This "Privacy Policy" aims to unambiguously communicate Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi's ("EAD") understanding, management's intent, commitments and action(s) it wishes to carry-out strictly in relation to the collection, use, dissemination, retention and destruction (collectively called "use" or "usage" or their derivatives) of personal information or data (collectively called "Data") that is collected on EAD's eServices website at http://eservices.ead.ae/.

Policy Statement

EAD is committed to carry-out its business and serve its customers with the highest ethical standards by designing, implementing and continuously improving applicable and adequate internal controls thereby earning trust of its customers.

EAD respects the privacy of the people who visit its website (collectively called "Users") by remaining committed to ensuring that Users' privacy is protected and accordingly collects and manages all Data provided by the Users with utmost care. EAD shall not use the data provided by its Users in ways that has not been consented by Users and/or is not required by law.

All and any Data that is requested from Users on this website shall be used only in accordance with the "Privacy Policy" as set out below and EAD shall never ask its Users for such Data that is not required by EAD.

EAD's website is divided into Public and Private/Secure areas, where the Public area can be browsed by Users without disclosing any personal data with the exception of specific information that is collected by cookies if used (see details below). Private/Secure areas warrant all Users to successfully login after they have registered with EAD using the Customer Registration form in the Public Area.

EAD shall notify you if the way in which it uses Users' data is changed at any time. All Users are requested to contact EAD at the below mentioned details to report any observed non-conformities to this "Privacy Policy" or request clarifications:

Policy Scope

Sites Covered by this Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to all (EAD) owned and managed web sites and domains. This "Privacy Policy" shall also apply in whole to such websites and/or domains that are managed by named vendors/suppliers on behalf of EAD.

Effective Locations

This policy applies to all staff of EAD irrespective of their location and all staff of such named vendors/suppliers irrespective of their location who manage named websites/domains owned by EAD and have access to such personal Data of Users.

Links to Other Sites

EAD's website may contain a number of hyperlinks that when clicked take Users to other sites external to EAD. All these hyperlinks are programmed in such a manner that they take the requesting User to an external site in a new window.

The Users shall note that EAD neither promotes nor endorses such websites and/or content therein and/or products/services neither offered by them nor does it exercise any control whatsoever over such websites since they are neither owned nor managed by it.

EAD is not responsible for the protection of any information/data Users provide whilst visiting such sites including security or privacy practices of these sites, the products or services offered by these sites, or the content appearing at these sites. EAD provides such hyperlinks on its website only to facilitate Users' search for information and enhance Users' experience.


A cookie consists of information sent by a web server to a web browser, and stored by the browser. The information is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables the web server to identify and track the web browser.

EAD's website may use session cookies to keep track of Users whilst Users navigate the website purely with the intent to collect and analyze website usage statistics in order to improve it and provide Users with better online experience.

Web Site Information Gathering

In order to serve its Users effectively and efficiently, EAD seeks certain pieces of Data from its Users at designated places within the website. EAD shall keep all the information collected from Users confidential, and its named staff and named vendors/suppliers shall have access to the same only on a need-to-know basis.

What we do with the information we gather

EAD requires the Data sought to understand Users' needs and provide them with correct, accurate and complete services, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Internal decision making
  • Improve EAD's products and / or services
  • Contact you for market research purposes, we may contact you by e-mail, phone, fax or mail

Personal Information Gathering

EAD does not automatically collect personally identifiable information (PII) about Users browsing the Public Areas. EAD may record the Internet protocol (IP) address of the computer Users are using, the browser software used, the operating systems used, and the websites from which EAD's visitors landed onto EAD's website. EAD aggregates and uses this Data to determine how many Users visited its web site, to detect and correct systems problems, and to improve the usability of the web site. This information is not connected to individual names or personal identities.

Particular Information Gathering

Users are allowed to browse the Public Areas of the website without providing any information whatsoever. EAD's website's request-for-more-information form requires users to give us contact information. This information is used to provide information to those who inquire about EAD's products and services, and to handle related business matters. This information is also used to get in touch with customers when necessary. From time to time, the information gathered through this site will be used to notify Users about products and services that in EAD's opinion might be of some interest to the Users.

Covert Information Gathering

EAD's website does not covertly capture information regarding specific activities of any particular user. EAD does not have any arrangements with any other websites to track or monitor user activities on the Web. EAD's website does, however, produce reports that permit EAD to view Users activity on its site in an anonymous and aggregated form. EAD's website does not use web bugs, or any other active content mechanism to capture or maintain information about users without their knowledge or prior consent. EAD's website does not store any persistent information on Users' computer unless it is stored as cache by Users browsers, over which EAD has no control.

Personal Information Usage

EAD does not sell, rent, trade, lend, or otherwise transfer personal information in part or whole to affiliates, strategic partners, or any other organization. Only in the event that named vendors/suppliers, affiliates, and/or strategic partners require, such personal information is shared with them for specific purposes that are mandated by EAD. In such situations, receiving vendors/suppliers, affiliates and/or strategic partners are governed by strict Non-disclosure Agreements that warrant them not to use disclosed information for purposes other than that is explicitly stated in the applicable mandate.

Personal Information Disclosures

EAD may disclose information about Users to [any of EAD employees, officers, agents, suppliers or subcontractors] insofar as reasonably necessary for the purposes as set out in this privacy policy.In addition, EAD may disclose personal information:

(a)    To the extent that EAD is required to do so by law;

(b)   In connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings;

(c)    In order to establish, exercise or defend EAD's legal rights (including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention and reducing risk)

To any person who EAD reasonably believes may apply to a court or other competent authority for disclosure of that personal information where, in EAD's reasonable opinion, such court or authority would be reasonably likely to order disclosure of that personal information.

Email List Privacy

EAD uses email lists that have been assembled from people who have indicated they want additional information about its services. Additionally, EAD uses email lists comprising of such people who have requested additional information about services EAD provides.

Personal Contacts

EAD personnel frequently give presentations at conferences and seminars; and newsletters; and participate in similar types of group and individual communications. EAD often receives business cards as well as requests for additional information or help with risk related issues. When EAD receives requests for information or help in person, from its web site from information volunteered by its Users, or from conferences from people indicating they want more information about EAD's type of services, these individuals are placed on EAD's contact list.

Email List Privacy

With the above exceptions, EAD does not sell, rent or share email lists with any other third parties. EAD does not link its email lists to any other databases. EAD does not store emails or individual information on its web server. All personally identifiable information is stored on servers behind its firewall.

Third Party Access to Your Personal Information

EAD may use third-parties to process Users' personal information.  In these cases, the information is only used for EAD's business purposes.  EAD contractually prohibits these vendors from using Users' personal data for any other activities, and from disclosing, selling or leasing them to any other parties.

Third Party Certification

EAD uses SSL to validate login credentials on its Website.  Web site visitors can verify its status by clicking on the SSL logo on the web site. 

Compelled Disclosure

There may be times when EAD is required by law to disclose the information that its Users have submitted. Unless EAD is legally prohibited to do so, EAD shall do its best to provide Users with notice that a request for User's information has been made to give Users an opportunity to object to the disclosure. If Users do not challenge the disclosure request, EAD may be legally required to turn over Users' information.

Website Security

Security Measures

EAD's website is protected with a variety of security measures such as change control procedures, passwords, and physical access controls. EAD also employs a variety of other mechanisms to ensure that data Users provide is not lost, misused, or altered inappropriately. These controls include data confidentiality policies and regular database backups.

EAD will take reasonable technical and organizational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of Users personal information.

EAD will store all the personal information on its secure (password- and firewall- protected) servers. All electronic transactions Users make to or receive from EAD will be secured [using SSL technology].

EAD wishes to draw attention of its Users to the fact that data transmission over the internet is inherently insecure, and EAD cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the internet.

Users are responsible for keeping their password and user details confidential. EAD shall never ask Users for their password (except when they log in to the website).

1.   Encryption Policy

Users are made aware that the information sent to EAD in the information request form, privacy information request form, or in an email message is not encrypted. Users are requested not send any confidential information within clear text forms or email messages. If Users want to provide us with confidential information, they are requested to call us at the number given on the web site under the "Contact us" section.

2.   Storage of Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

EAD does not store any personally identifiable information on its web server.

    3. Accountability: 

Information security personnel ensure that the security frameworks, mechanisms and processes are working effectively within EAD while the security of the information EAD processes and stores is the responsibility of all those who have access to it in whole or part thereof.

Policies and Procedures

EAD has internal policies and procedures to limit access to Users' information to only those who have a business need to view it.

Access to Personal Information

EAD makes every effort to keep its records valid and accurate. EAD will make appropriate changes when Users notify us. If Users want to view, update or delete the information EAD has about them in its databases, Users are requested to fill out EAD's privacy information request or login to the website with their credentials to update this information. EAD will follow procedures to verify User's identity before providing this information to further protect the User's privacy.

Privacy Policy Changes

EAD may occasionally make changes to its privacy policy to reflect changes in legal and regulatory requirements, or as necessary as EAD upgrades or modifies its technology, applications and service offerings. EAD recommends that Users visit its website to review these privacy policies occasionally, or if Users prefer, EAD will be glad to send Users an email notice whenever the policy is updated.

Customer Requests

If a User wishes to remove his/her name and related information from EAD's contact database, EAD shall promptly take action to comply with the User's request. EAD is pleased to process address error correction notices and address change requests through any of the following channels:
